Polygons Measuring Spoon

Polygons

Polygons redesigns the measuring spoon as a flat tool that forms volume only when needed. A full set of six measures is compressed into two thin sheets. The volume is determined by the position it is picked up, then magnets guide and secure the shape. After use, it returns to a flat state for quick wiping and spreading to reduce food waste, and stores magnetically on the refrigerator. Translating origami principles into a washable, food safe product required novel structural engineering to ensure durability beyond 100,000 folds while reducing material use, storage space, and freight waste.

Polygons Measuring Spoon by Rahul Agarwal was identified as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Polygons Measuring Spoon received the Bronze A' Design Award in Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design in 2026. The A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which honors superior design of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, baking dishes, graters and more.
