The Grand Tea Tray

The Grand

The Grand is a tea tray designed for traditional Chinese tea brewing. The main body is made of black stone, with an inlay of luxury stone placed according to the golden section. The tray surface is shaped as a stepped geometric form with a gradient between high and low levels. Water flows from the higher area, where the teapot stands, to the lower area, where the cups are placed, and then leaves through a hidden outlet. The stone is shaped by CNC machining with additional manual work, and the surface is polished.

The Grand Tea Tray by Guokun Wang has been identified as a grand example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Grand Tea Tray was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design in 2020. The A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which celebrates outstanding design of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, baking dishes, graters and more.
